Chicago Family Management Program
For low-income women who are pregnant or have a child up to age one, this program provides health assessment and referrals for assistance as needed. Services include:
- Assessment: deciding what help you may need
- Case management: providing assistance and following your progress
- Health care screening
- Home visits: making sure you are managing well
Head Start Programs
The Salvation Army Head Start programs give your child the same advantages every child deserves - a chance to learn in a creative, exciting, educational environment. Your child can begin to learn early and enjoy a healthy start in life by enrolling in one of our child care programs. Services include individually planned pre-school programming, and nutritional, medical and dental care.
Family Outreach Initiative: Home-Based Head Start
Formerly or potentially homeless families who live in Chicago and have at least one child age 3 to 5 can benefit from home-based Head Start. A case manager makes weekly contacts with your family to provide creative learning experiences and help your child progress.

Half-Day Child Care
Children age 3 by September 1st can enjoy playing, learning and socializing with other boys and girls their age in this educational program. Our caring staff provides a safe environment, creative learning activities and nutritious meals. They also observe the skills your child already has and provide the help he or she needs to continue to learn and grow. Low-income families qualify for this program. Contact our Head Start program nearest you.
