Faith and Action - #PutTheGunsDown

The Salvation Army is taking part in an initiative of the Office of the Mayor of the City of Chicago called Faith and Action.  Faith and Action is an effort to take action against the danger and violence that has been plaguing the streets of Chicago.  The Mayor’s Office has been eager to engage Chicago's faith communities, including The Salvation Army, in this effort.

To do our part in this campaign, we ask YOU and all of our supporters to participate in a collaborative effort on Social Media to protest against violence in Chicago. It’s very simple, all you have to do is:

  1. Print out the poster featuring the hashtag of the campaign #PutTheGunsDown
  2. Take photos and/or videos of yourself, friends or supporters holding this sign at your celebrations, gatherings and/or picnics during the 4th of July weekend.
  3. Post the photos on your social media accounts using #PutTheGunsDown

In return, we will be awarding passes to have a fun day at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center in Chicago to the top five photos that receive the most “likes” on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

Thank you for your support. Let’s end violence in Chicago together!
