POSITION TITLE: Secretary
LOCATION/DEPT.: Norridge Citadel Corps
REPORTS TO: Business Administrator
Administrative support will be provided in order to ensure that the functions of this position are effectively achieved. This includes assistance with written and oral communications, with planning and implementation of events as well as maintaining a data management system (paper files and electronic data files).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general secretarial and office administrative duties for Corps Officers and staff. Duties including typing, filing, handling mail, project work, receiving visitors/clients, handling incoming/outgoing calls.
Track and report required statistical information as necessary.
Prepare weekly Sunday bulletins and appropriate inserts.
Maintain current membership information and publish directories as required.
Maintain accurate mailing information and produce labels as requested.
All other duties as assigned.
This individual relates to and interacts with a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts they will act as a representative of the Army and its mission.
Under general supervision of the Business Administrator with some freedom to plan, schedule and carry out responsibilities within established policies and guidelines.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
Minimum of two years of college education or its equivalent required; a BA or BS is preferred.
Two years’ experience in an administrative assistant or secretarial position.
Experience with a computer-based work environment and an excellent working knowledge of Word and Excel.
Must be able to type at least 40 wpm.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
An attention to detail.
An ability to work with confidential material.
A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to do light physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is required to use standard office equipment and a PC. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
