TITLE

Security Guard

DEPARTMENT MISSION

To provide leadership using policies, procedures and available systems to support the Harbor Light Center in meeting the mission of The Salvation Army

PROGRAM/CLIENT ENVIRONMENT

The backgrounds of the clients served by The Harbor Light Program will manifest a variety of inappropriate behaviors.  When this occurs, employees are to respond within the context of the treatment environment of the site.  Employee conduct (actions, dress, etc) and interactions (conversations, written communications, etc.) with clients must also be within the treatment environment of the facility.

OUTCOMES

The Security Guard is responsible for providing a visible security presence on campus during peak movement times.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1. The perimeter of the campus is physically monitored two times per hour

2. Residents are discouraged from loitering around the perimeter of the building

3. A good working relationship is developed with the Resident Management staff and Correctional Counselor staff

4. The Harbor Light and Corrections parking lots are physically monitored

5. Policies and procedures of the program will be strictly adhered to

6. Client violations are reported to Resident Manager

7. Log book of all activities are properly maintained

8. Other duties as assigned by the resident manger

RELATIONSHIPS

This individual relates to, and interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and outside The Salvation Army including, but not limited to, clients, staff, donors, and department heads.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Under general supervision of the Resident Manager, carries out general and specific duties some freedom to exercise independent judgment in their implementation.

PERFORMACE MEASURES

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

EDUCATION

A minimum high school diploma or GED is required.

EXPERIENCE

CPR/First Aid certification is a benefit.

3 or more years of security guard experience.

COMPETENCIES

Strong interpersonal skills are required.

Possess and ability to work as a team member.

Work well with the public and at a fairly fast pace.

Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self starter.

An attention to detail.

A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

The person in this job must have outstanding integrity, honesty, and professionalism.

A willingness to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
