We are deeply saddened and disappointed with the news that, once again, this July 4th weekend was a very violent and deadly one in Chicago. Eighty two people felt the pain of a gunshot wound. Fourteen families were shattered by the death of a loved one. Countless neighborhoods continue to be rocked by senseless violence.
The entire City of Chicago has been affected by gun violence, and as human beings and people dedicated to serving our communities, we find this unacceptable. We mourn with the families who lost loved ones and stand alongside our neighbors as they call for an end to the bloodshed.
