Just ask Brianna (11), Arianna (9), and Jayden (8), who had the time of their lives last summer at The Salvation Army’s Wonderland Camp.
As soon as they boarded the bus in their gritty Englewood neighborhood for the two-hour ride to camp, all three were giddy with excitement.
“The first night we had a campfire,” says Brianna. “I made s’mores for the first time!”
Arianna will never forget the high-ropes course, which emphasizes teamwork and confidence-building — while 20 feet up in the air. “That part was scary, but I did it!” she says. “I grabbed my friend’s hand and we just did it. We cheered on the other groups, too.”
Thank you for cheering them on, as well!
More than 10,000 children attended Wonderland last year, and we expect just as many this summer. But it couldn’t happen without the compassion and support of friends like you.
