The Salvation Army to Host and Deliver 1,500 Christmas Meals

THE SALVATION ARMY TO HOST AND DELIVER 1,500 CHRISTMAS MEALS

WHAT: The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center will host two sit-down Christmas holiday meals for residents, individuals, families and seniors in need and deliver another 1,000 meals to the homeless throughout Chicagoland through its Mobile Feeding Units. These free dinners will provide nutritious meals to more than 1,500 people who would otherwise go without this Christmas.

For the fourth year in a row, famed Chicago Chef Alan Lake will treat more than 200 residents of The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center to a gourmet feast at their annual Christmas party. Harbor Light residents are currently undergoing comprehensive, specialized services to help overcome their addiction to drugs or alcohol and successfully reclaim their lives in a safe, structured and secure environment.

The annual Christmas Dinner has been a tradition of the Harbor Light Center since 1946. More than 300 individuals, families and seniors are expected to attend.

The Salvation Army will be bringing hundreds of Christmas dinners and gifts to Chicago’s homeless and hungry, driving its special mobile outreach unit to five different locations throughout the city where people regularly line up to receive hot, nutritious meals from Salvation Army outreach workers. Tables will be positioned at each location and volunteers will serve special Christmas meals to more than 800 people.
