BE A Difference Maker

For over 125 years, The Salvation Army shield has been the symbol of our commitment to helping people in crisis. People who are hungry and dispossessed. People who are heartsick and wracked with emotional anguish. People who have lost connection with God and long for spiritual comfort. Wherever we find our brothers and sisters suffering from hunger, poverty, hopelessness or injustice, we do something about it.

Since 1885, the Army has been bringing the solace of God’s love and the practical
assistance that helps people re-order and transform their lives. As the world becomes more complicated and uncertain, one thing is certain. The need for our passion and
compassion continues to grow both worldwide and here in the Chicagoland area.

Our purpose is simply stated. We are dedicated to doing the most good. We keep our commitment by becoming a force for change and improvement in our communities,
as well as in individual lives. Our foundation is our Corps Community Centers, where we work closely with neighborhood groups and residents to identify and address specific issues through programs and initiatives that enhance body and soul.

To meet our commitments, we rely on the help of our passionate supporters and volunteers. Your generous contributions are crucial to helping the Army make a difference in the lives of so many in times of disaster, physical need and spiritual crisis. But as you’ll see in this report, you also have an opportunity to donate something that’s important in a different way.

You can donate yourself. Be a volunteer. Be a difference maker.
