125 Years of Serving People in Need In Greater Chicago Did you know that in 1897, The Salvation Army opened Evangeline Shelter on Clark Street to provide low-cost lodging for working men. Today, combining all shelter programs, each night over 1,100 people are accommodated – free of charge – under a Chicagoland Salvation Army roof. All this year, The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division will be hosting events marking 125 years of service to people in need. |
